Gaia Rooster Story

Gaia Rooster embodies the owner’s essence and spirit - healthy & wholesome, appreciative of the tasty treasures life has to offer, and sharing that joy with others.

Kara, the owner (a.k.a. Jefa or Grand Hen), was born in the year of the earth rooster on the Chinese zodiac. She was an avid Greek mythology enthusiast in her teens and the Greek word “Gaia”, which means earth, became a regular part of her vocabulary. This led to the creation of Gaia Rooster many, many, many moons later. Since childhood, she has always enjoyed snacking on dates. To share that special feeling, she began making date treats in 2015 for her sweet-tooth husband, and later as gifts for relatives, friends, and vendors at the local farmers markets. In support of this great community, she buys her raw ingredients from those local farmers as well.

Like many of us, she began to experience health issues for which her doctor prescribed a gluten-free diet. That meant a great opportunity for Kara to share these benefits by making her desserts 100% gluten-free as well.

Many people who tried her creations encouraged her to focus on her desserts as a profession. In appreciation of their support, Kara started a small food operation in 2024.

Kara incorporates her Vietnamese and Chinese heritage as a resource to create new, innovative gluten-free treats that you’ll want to enjoy (GUILT FREE) again and again.
